Young Author Club · for kids ages 5–12

This summer, your kid
writes a real book.

One 30-minute club session a week. A guided workbook. Their own story — imagined, drafted, revised, and illustrated — printed in a real book and launched at an Author Party & Book Signing.

How it works

Eight weeks. One small mission at a time.

Each week's session kicks off a simple home mission in the My Book-Writing Adventure workbook. Kids do the writing at home — 15 to 20 minutes at a time — and bring their pages back to the club.

Week 1

Idea Storm

Catch a great story idea with the What-If Machine.

Week 2

Heroes & Friends

Build a hero with a big want and one funny flaw.

Week 3

The Big Problem

Plan the whole story with the secret story shape.

Week 4

The Beginning

Hook the reader with a first sentence that grabs.

Week 5

The Messy Middle

The hero tries, fails, and tries again. On purpose.

Week 6

The Big Ending

The hero solves it — then the Title Machine spins.

Week 7

Make It Shine

Edit like a real author: two stars and a wish.

Week 8

Pictures & Party

Design the cover, finish the art, submit to print.

The secret every kid learns: Somebody… wanted… but… so they tried… until finally… and now. Once they know the shape, they can never get lost in their own story.
Two ways to join

Join a club — or run one yourself.

Young Author Club works like a co-op. You can register your child for a hosted club, or get the kit and host your own circle of young authors — no teaching experience required.

For families

Join a Club

Your child joins a small cohort (4–10 authors) with a trained facilitator. You get a one-line update after every session — zero prep on your end.

  • 8 live weekly 30-minute sessions (in person or Zoom)
  • My Book-Writing Adventure workbook — theirs to keep
  • Their story published in the cohort's printed book
  • One copy of the finished book included
  • Author Party: reading, certificate & book signing

Prefer your own schedule? The self-guided option includes the lesson videos.

For hosts · the parent co-op model

Run Your Own Club

Gather a few families from your neighborhood, school, or church and host the club yourself — or rotate hosting between parents, co-op style. The kit does the heavy lifting.

  • Complete Facilitator's Guide — a word-for-word plan for all 8 sessions
  • Lesson videos: watch a real facilitator run every session with real kids
  • 4 author workbooks included — more at $25 each, so you can plan your club's cost up front
  • Party Playbook, Printing Guide & print-ready certificates
  • Flyer, pricing sheet & parent message templates — charge for your club if you like

If you can read the guide out loud, you can run this club.

The grand finale

The Author Party & Book Signing

The night it all becomes real. Every author reads a page of their story out loud, receives their certificate, and sits at a signing table autographing copies — while grandparents buy extras for the whole family.

  • Arrive — books on display like a real launch. Name tags read AUTHOR.
  • Readings — each author reads one page. Wild applause is mandatory.
  • Certificates — every author called up by name. This is the photo.
  • The Signing — autographs, treats, and very proud grandparents.

"I wrote a REAL book and signed it like a famous person."

— every kid, by the end of the party
For teens 12–18 · standalone workbook

Too old for the club. Exactly the right age to publish.

Not a club, not a class — a complete solo system. The workbook is the planning headquarters; the manuscript gets typed for real. Eight phases take a teen from idea to a self-published paperback with their name on the spine.

  • Premise auditions, character dossiers, beat sheets & chapter maps
  • Word-count math, drafting schedule & a 40-box progress tracker
  • Beta-reader scripts and a three-pass revision system
  • Cover design in Canva — their own art or graphics, thumbnail-tested
  • Step-by-step publishing on Amazon KDP, proof copy to launch

Questions parents ask

FAQ

Can a 5-year-old really write a book?
Yes — with a scribe. Younger authors dictate their story while a grown-up writes down exactly what they say, silly parts included, then they illustrate it themselves. Their voice, their book. Some of the best stories in any cohort come from the 5-year-olds.
I'm not a teacher. Can I really run a club?
That's the whole design. The Facilitator's Guide gives you a word-for-word plan for every 30-minute session, and the lesson videos show a real facilitator running each one with real kids. Total prep is about 10 minutes a week. If you can read out loud and clap enthusiastically, you're qualified.
What does the printed book look like?
A real 8.5×11 paperback with a printed spine. Each author's story appears with their own illustrations and an About the Author page with their photo or self-portrait. One copy is included with every registration; extra copies are $35 and are available at the party.
What if we miss a session?
No problem. The workbook is self-explanatory by design, and parents get a one-line recap with each week's home mission. Kids catch up at home and rejoin the next week without missing a beat.
Do clubs meet in person or on Zoom?
Both work. Hosted cohorts run in person around a kitchen table or on a 30-minute Zoom. The kit includes hosting checklists for each format.
My kid is 13+ — is the club too young for them?
Probably, and that's why Blank Page to Book exists: a standalone workbook for ages 12–18 with no club and no sessions. It's a solo system — they plan in the workbook, type the manuscript for real, design their cover in Canva, and self-publish a paperback on Amazon KDP. $25, and it ends with their name on a spine.
Can I charge families for the club I host?
Yes. The Facilitator Kit includes a customizable pricing sheet and registration flyer, and you keep what you earn from your own cohorts. Your only per-author cost is a $25 workbook (your first 4 are included with the kit) plus printing — so a host charging even $99 per author covers the kit within the first cohort.

By August, your kid is a published author.

Cohorts are small on purpose — 10 authors each. Tell us whether you want to join a club, go self-guided, or host your own, and we'll get you started.
